>Dang, I’m good . . huh?!?!
I had President’s Day off from work but the kids had school. I guess I don’t have to tell you that I killed numerous hours on the internet today . . . . (see new and improved heading above!)
We had an EXCELLENT weekend here in the D Household. My good friend LD called Monday from Sioux Falls and said “what are you doing at week’s end?” They arrived Thursday night with their DARLING boys Jonah and Jack and we spent the weekend just hanging out in F’ville.
LD was craving Tim’s Pizza, (which prompted the whole trip I think) . . . so that was what I served Thursday night. I took Friday off of work and we toured the growing NWA metropolis, including the Promenade and had lunch at Mimi’s Cafe. When we got home I beckoned for our next door neighbor, Michael, to come over and teach us how to make my new favorite drink – Mojitos.
They were delish! The only thing that would have made them better would be some serious SUNSHINE and Mom & Dad’s pool, or LD’s mom & dad’s cabin.
Mark and the kids came home from work and school just in time for us all to PIG OUT some more at Oseguera’s – followed by . . . you guessed it . . . RENT! Hey – if you want to remain friends with me you have to learn to love and appreciate RENT as much as I do!
Saturday it rained all day (7 inches in Rogers!) so outdoor activities were out. But the kids had been cooped up long enough – so we ventured down to the WAC where there was a pretty cool exhibit from the Arkansas Discovery Museum titled the Mystery of the Mayan Medallion. It was an interactive/archeological/treasure hunt. A bit over the heads of 4 year old Jack and 5 year old Jonah – but enjoyable nonetheless. Afterwards we ran across the street for a snack at the Common Grounds.
And lest you fear that I am, in fact, the world’s worst hostess . . . FINALLY on Saturday night I cooked for our guests. Rosemary Herb crusted pork tenderloin, roasted garlic mashed potatoes (thank you, Pioneer Woman!) and a spinach and strawberry salad with poppyseed dressing (and more Mojitos!). After dinner we played Shangai Rummy and Idiot until we just couldn’t take it anymore!
I would say that we were sad to see them go – but those ding-a-lings got up and on the road without so much as a “see ya!”
Yeah – we’re those kind of friends!
It would have been the perfect weekend – except for one thing. After bowling with our church “Winter School” Sunday night, we had to run to Harps for (of all things!) a paper bag for Gracie’s “Paper Bag Book Report.” In the 90 seconds that I was in the store, Mark managed to hit a CONCRETE POLE with my Pacifica! He was just turning around in the parking lot to come back to the front door to pick me up, and instead of looking where he was going, he was looking over his shoulder to make sure he wasn’t pulling out in front of anyone. SMACK! Concrete doesn’t budge! Mark has a gash in his head where he hit it on a clip on the visor. Genna got bumped in the face by a cardboard box with leftover Casino Night decor, Ethan escaped unscathed and Gracie just felt sick to her stomach from the jolt and the adrenaline.
That’ll be $500 out of the Disney Fund. DRAT!
